Pixels have random or erratic behavior when connected to HinksPix PRO CPU

ISSUE: Some or all pixels connected to a HinksPix PRO controller randomly flash, operate when not commanded or have other undesired behavior.

ASSUMPTIONS:  All extension cables are under 25ft in length and that there is sufficient power for all pixels connected to the output.

SOLUTION: The default speed on output of data is 800 KHz and should be changed to 700 KHz. To perform this operation see the following video or text instructions:

Text instructions from above:
  • Connect to web interface on controller. If you are have not yet setup the controller for web access, see this page: http://www.holidaycoro.com/hinkspix for setup information
  • Click on the top menu tab labeled 'E131 / Arnet / DDP'
  • Select the drop down option labeled 'Pixel Speed'
  • Change from '800 khz' to '700 khz'
  • Click the red button labeled 'Save Changes This Page: Reset at END to Activate' until the button turns purple
  • Click on the top menu tab labeled 'Reset'
  • Click the red button labeled 'RESET'
  • Allow 30 second for the controller to reset
You can now test your pixels by using the built-in test mode on the controller as shown below:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • When just testing the operation of pixels for verification of functionality, do not connect pixels to long range outputs, only use the SPI outputs directly connected to a HinksPix PRO CPU
  • Some pixels may not require adjustment of speed
