The Lights in my display stay stuck on after the song ends or after my show stops playing for the evening

PROBLEM:  When your show completes either the song or the entire show, some or all pixels might remain on but the customer would like them to be black instead of a color.

BACKGROUND:  This is normal and is how DMX operates as DMX only sends updates when a change is made to a pixel.  Thus, if the last change or update was to make a pixel "on" or a color, it will remain that way until told to change.  DMX controllers, by default under the DMX E1.11 and E1.31 standard do not change the output to "off" or "black".

SOLUTION:  There are a number of fixes that can be implemented to turn off or actually, make the pixels "black" in color:
  1. Per Sequence - At the end of your sequence, ensure that the last 1 second is the command OFF for all props/pixels.  Some sequences will leave lights on even at the end of the sequence.
  2. Clean up sequence - Create a 1 second sequence where all props are set to the OFF command for all props/pixels.  Between each sequence, run the 1 second sequence to "clean up" and turn off all pixels.  This can also be run in some schedulers as the last sequence of the night.
  3. HinksPix Blackout Overridge - If you have a HinksPix PRO CPU, you can go into the web interface under Misc Settings | BlackOut Show and then put a check mark in "Make ALL lighting Black After Sequence" and the controller, when it receives no updates after 10 seconds by default:
